From September 23 to 26, the TRAKO trade fair will take place in Gdańsk, Poland. It is the largest and most prestigious meeting of the railway industry in Poland and the second largest in Europe. Exhibitors will showcase the current level of development of transport systems and railway infrastructure in Poland, Europe, and worldwide. At the sixteenth edition of the fair, the railway technology segment will also feature DAKO-CZ, a member of the CSG Group. DAKO-CZ, a leading manufacturer of braking systems and components for rail vehicles, will present to both professionals and the general public its latest innovations, especially in the field of comprehensive bogie equipment for passenger railway cars.
“Our company’s exhibition this year will be different than usual. Its main theme is the concept of sustainability. We are a company that keeps pace with modern trends while also striving to set them, and this is reflected in our exhibits. The combination of modern design elements, materials, metal, and greenery clearly illustrates our direction and emphasizes that we are developing environmentally friendly solutions. A flagship product in this area is our electromechanical brake units, which do not require hydraulic systems, reduce the carbon footprint, and thus lower CO2 emissions. This revolutionary braking system is also installed in the new Škoda For City Plus 52T trams for Prague,” says Stanislav Pometlo, Vice Chairman of the Board and CEO of DAKO-CZ.
The new braking system, including control units and track brakes, is installed on trams supplied by the Škoda Group to the Prague Public Transit Company. At this point, tram no. 9503 has already completed over 20,000 kilometers in passenger service. It reached this milestone on the evening of Tuesday, September 2, 2025, after just 75 days of operation. This very tram will also be on display at the TRAKO fair.
Among other products, DAKO-CZ will present units and components for complete bogie equipment for passenger railway cars, an upgraded digital distributor, and new brake components developed according to UIC standards. Pneumatic solutions for braking systems in both passenger and freight transport will also be showcased. The company will demonstrate its compact DAKO KKBB brake unit for wheel disc applications, available in a version with a parking brake or a simpler version without it. The advantage of this solution is low operating and maintenance demands.
For the freight sector, TRAKO visitors will see the new lightweight DAKO KBZ 10 disc brake unit for freight cars, available with a hand brake and braking indicator, supplied to customers for discs with widths of 110 mm and 170 mm. Another product to be presented will be the ITBL beam brake. This integrated brake is designed primarily for freight cars where low tare weight is required. This feature makes their operation more environmentally friendly. Another advantage is its brake cylinder with a dual-sided slack adjuster, easily operated from outside the vehicle. Maintenance staff will particularly appreciate this feature during brake block replacement. The brake is mounted to the bogie using four hangers, ensuring easy installation. It is manufactured in a simple version or with a hand brake.
Visitors will find the DAKO-CZ booth in Hall C, Stand 02. TRAKO is the most significant railway event in Poland and one of the most important in Central and Eastern Europe. At the previous fair in 2023, 617 exhibitors from over 30 countries showcased their products and solutions across 30,000 m², attracting nearly 24,000 visitors.
