Restructuring processes and investments are in full swing at Tatra Trucks, which are intended to support a significant increase in production volume. Because of this, the company needs new capacities and specialists, including for development and construction. That's why Tatra Trucks opened the second branch office of its design department in Ostrava on August 6 and is expanding cooperation with academic institutions in Brno.
In connection with the increase in the capacity of specialists in the design and development department, this year Tatra is investing in new office of the design department directly in Kopřivnice. The investments aim to increase the capacity of the department, but also to modernize the working environment of designers. But that's not all, part of the restructuring processes and investments in Tatra also includes the creation of new offices outside of Kopřivnice.
Already in October of last year, the company opened a branch office of the development department in Brno, and now the Ostrava design office has also been added to it. The establishment of new branches in Brno and Ostrava has its reasons. Tatra wants to attract design and development experts from these areas in this way. In addition, these are also cities where diverse research and development is concentrated and technical universities, such as VUT and VŠB-TUO, are also located there. Brno and Ostrava are also centres offering much greater possibilities for finding business opportunities and partner contacts.
The Brno office mainly employs designers of transmission systems. Tatra is currently increasing the capacity of the Brno branch and is looking for experts in the field of electronics and engine construction. As for the Ostrava office, the new team is now being formed there, and other electronics specialists, calculating specialist, and designers will find employment in it.
For both new branch offices, cooperation with the academic sphere is self-evident. For example, at the beginning of August, Tatra Trucks signed a contract with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of VUT Brno, which will allow specialists from the Tatra design office in Brno to use the faculty's testing laboratories for development work on Tatra air-cooled engines and their testing. As part of this cooperation, Tatra test technicians will also work stably at faculty workplaces. The use of the Brno laboratories is also beneficial from the point of view of cooperation with the company Motorpal Jihlava, with which Tatra Trucks has been working for several years on the development and optimization of injection fuel pumps and fuel system accessories for its engines.
In addition, Tatra and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of VUT have been cooperating for years on research in the area of calculations and simulations of driving characteristics of vehicles, and the signing of the mentioned contract thus brings further deepening of cooperation. Tatra also has ongoing projects with engineering students in the form of diploma theses and professional internships, and also cooperates with doctoral students. The same will be the case with the new branch office in Ostrava.
