The Pandur 8x8 EVO introduces technological innovations developed in cooperation between Czech engineers and experts from renowned global defence system manufacturers. It is produced by Tatra Defence Vehicle (TDV) in Kopřivnice, a company specializing in armoured combat and special wheeled vehicles. These vehicles are in service not only with the Czech Army but also with other NATO and non-NATO armed forces around the world. One of TDV’s key production pillars is the Pandur 8x8 vehicle family, manufactured under license from General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS). This license allows TDV not only to manufacture and supply Pandur 8x8 vehicles to selected territories, but also to undertake modernization projects and, most importantly, to develop new technologies and design new modifications for these vehicles.
The new Pandur 8x8 EVO vehicle is the result of a collaboration between engineers and technicians from TDV and specialists from the Austrian branch of GDELS-Steyr, which specializes in Pandur 6x6 vehicles. The new Czech 8x8 partially builds on the Pandur 6x6 EVO, and both vehicles incorporate elements of the latest technological trends and solutions that prepare them for the digital battlefield of the coming years. In developing the Pandur 8x8 EVO, TDV took into account the future needs of the Czech Army as well as the armed forces of other countries. Modern combat vehicles must be capable of operating in various parts of the globalized world, which is why their design is highly adaptable – allowing them to be equipped with different advanced systems according to user requirements.

Pandur 8x8 EVO
A New-Generation Vehicle
The Pandur 8x8 EVO is a new-generation vehicle that fully reflects this technological trend. It offers high levels of both passive and active crew and vehicle protection, cutting-edge electronic and communication systems, various types of combat turrets with powerful weaponry and modern detection and targeting systems, as well as a high-performance powertrain. The armored hull and turret are manufactured using the latest technologies, which allows for relatively low weight while achieving high levels of protection. With the addition of modular armor segments, protection can reach Level 4 in accordance with NATO standards.
The new Pandur 8x8 EVO, in the Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) configuration, will be equipped with the UT30MK2 unmanned turret from Israeli company Elbit Systems, for both the Czech Army and other potential customers. These turrets will also be manufactured at TDV, with the Israeli partner fully transferring the necessary technologies and know-how to the Czech Republic. Should the Czech Army acquire the Pandur 8x8 EVO vehicles, it will be able to rely not only on the production and technological capabilities of a domestic company but also on its logistical and service support.

Pandur 8x8 EVO
Built for the Digital Battlefield of the Coming Decades
The turret’s main armament is the 30mm Mk.44 Bushmaster II cannon with electric stabilization – one of the most advanced and effective weapons in its class. Furthermore, the turret’s design, in line with the latest trends, allows for the possible future integration of a main weapon of a larger caliber. Two Spike-LR/LR2 anti-tank guided missiles are housed in a separate launcher, and these too are among the most advanced systems in the world. Despite their Israeli origin, the missiles are produced in Europe, thus avoiding potential supply complications from distant manufacturers.
The crew has access to advanced electronic targeting, detection, and communication systems, which elevate the combat effectiveness of the Pandur 8x8 EVO to a level suitable for the digital battlefield of the coming decades. Both the commander and gunner are equipped with fully stabilized electro-optical sights, featuring automatic target tracking and a “hunter-killer” function (where the commander can immediately designate identified targets for the gunner while continuing to search for new ones). Both sights include a high-resolution daytime TV camera and a thermal camera for night operations or poor weather conditions; the commander’s sight also features a panoramic view.
Unmanned Turret
The main armament of the unmanned UT30MK2 turret, consisting of a 30mm cannon and Spike-LR/LR2 missiles, makes the Pandur 8x8 EVO a highly effective weapon system that meets the latest global standards. Thanks to a complete technology transfer to Tatra Defence Vehicle, the UT30MK2 turret will be produced in the Czech Republic – a significant contribution to the Czech defence industry. Should the Czech Army adopt the Pandur 8x8 EVO, it will be able to rely on full domestic production and servicing capabilities.
The UT30MK2 turret is also equipped with the Iron Fist active protection system, featuring two dual-rotating launchers for defensive munitions. A laser warning system is also available, informing the crew of the direction and type of incoming laser radiation.
The Pandur 8x8 EVO is powered by a high-performance powerpack, centered around a Cummins ISL 540 six-cylinder turbo diesel engine with a displacement of 8.9 liters, outputting 405 kW at 2200 rpm and 1900 Nm of torque at 1400 rpm. It is paired with the ZF Ecomat 6 HP 902 S six-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle has a maximum speed of 110 km/h and a minimum operational range of 600 km.
